Bong County Profile

 

 

Bong County has a population estimated of 333,481 according to the National Population and Housing Census 2008. Male-164,859, Female-168,622, twelve (12) Districts, forty two (42) Clans and one (1) township which has Jorquelleh District as the most populated with a population estimate of over seventy nine thousand inhabitants and with a provincial capital called Gbarnga which is about 56,000. Bong County has a total area of 3,358.81 square miles, population density of 99, total acres of 2,149,645.7 (869,930.53).
 

TOTAL FACTS FACILITIES:

The County has about thirty seven (37) health facilities including three (3) hospitals namely: Phebe Hospital in Suakoko District, Bong Mines Hospital in Fuahmah District and Dumbar Hospital in Jorquelleh District.
 
SCHOOL FACILITIES:

Total number of schools is about three hundred sixty seven (367) including fourteen (14) High Schools with one (1) University and one (1) Technical College namely: Cuttington University and the Bong County Technical College.

Bong County is located in the central region of Liberia. It is rich in mineral and has five (5) mining companies: China Union, Mittal Steel, BHP Billiton, AMLIB and Jonah Capital. This is boost by three alluvial mining sites in and around Degei in Fuahmah District, Garmu in Jorquelleh District and Gold Camp, Meng Creek and Yelle Creek with two (2) beautiful Waterfalls. The Kpatawee Waterfall and the Sicken Town Waterfall.
