»  FIELD MAPPING ASSITANTS AND CARTOGRAPHERS TRAINING

The Government of Liberia through the Liberian Institute of Statistics and Geo-Information Services (LISGIS), in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) will be conducting its 2020 Round of National Population and Housing Census of Liberia.  As part of the processes leading to the conduct of the Census, a training workshop has been organized for Field Mapping Assistants and Cartographers. The Field Mapping Assistants and Cartographers will delineate the country into Enumeration Areas for the subsequent enumeration of the population. The delineation of enumeration areas is the scientific process that determines the number, types and quality of buildings within the country and the number of enumerators to be deployed for the enumeration of the population. A successful delineation of Enumeration Areas also leads to the creation of a sample frame for surveys. During this exercise, all buildings in Liberia including residential and commercial buildings, schools, clinics, hospitals, etc. will be geo-coded. The training is expected to commence on Monday, February 22 and will run up to March 9, 2021, in Kakata City, Margibi County.

The opening of this workshop will be graced by stakeholders, the United Nations family along with the Government of Liberia and its international partners who are major sponsors of the Census Project.

The field staff will be deployed on March 10, 2021, in all 15 counties of Liberia.
