PCODES By County, District, Clans, and Towns Villa »
Understanding PCODES

The Liberia Institute for Statistics and Geo-Information Services (LISGIS) is pleased to provide PCODES that are useful for spatial data collection by individuals, public and private institutions, development partners and civil society organizations at the county, district, clan and village/town levels in Liberia.  The PCODES were developed after the conduct of the National and Population and Housing Census in 2008.

A PCODE is a unique number that identifies a village in Liberia and it in the following format: LR030800801.  The usage of this CODE is explained below.

The two letters (LR) represent the Country, Liberia; the first two digits following the two letters represent the county in which the village is located; the next two digits represent the district, the next three digits represent the clan and the last two digits represent the city/town/village.

The above unique number, PCODE, represents the village, FISH, and is defined as follows:
LR   -  Liberia
03   -  Bomi County
08   -  Dowein District
008 -  Deygbo  Clan
01   -  Fish Town/Village

LISGIS, therefore, advises everyone that data collected throughout the country should follow the above PCODE instruction for consistent and useful map production.  “Please Click here to download both halfs of the PCODE file.”
